Now I am based close to King's Cross (St Pancras) my journey times have been nicely reduced. If I leave the house at 6.05am I can be at Folkestone West by 6.20am in time for the 6.26am fast train. The journey time on the train is 52mins, as opposed to the old travel time of 1 1/2 hours using the slow services. I can now be in work for 7.30am which means I can leave at 4pm. If I leave at 4pm then I can catch the 4.12pm from St Pancras and arrive in Folkestone West for 5.07pm. Get home for 5.20pm. What a difference this makes to the time I get at home. Thanks high speed train service.
Last Friday (16/04/2010) was my end date for working at Tube Lines Ltd. I started working for London Underground Ltd (Metronet) from this morning (Monday 19/04/2010). It was a bit of a shambles when I first arrived as I had no details about where, when and who to report too. I wandered back and forth between buildings until I got the right one. I got there in the end, so all is well.
After walking back from Canary Wharf (Cabot Place) shopping centre, I took note of a set of 4 floating reed mats, which I saw a few weeks ago with a pair of swans starting to nest. When I had a look today, they are now incubating what looks like about 6-8 eggs. Also on the matting are a pair of Great Crested Grebes doing their mating/nesting ritual of offering various bits of twig, plastic etc. to each other. Cannot see a nest as yet. There are also a pair of Coots with a nest on the mats and they are sitting on an unknown amount of eggs. Also spotted was just one Moorhen. Yet to see if it has a partner and if it has, wher it will nest. What a wildlife haven Canary Wharf is turning out to be.
Over the last few years I have also managed to catch sight of a seal (3 times) swimming about around the Wharf. A fairly rare sight I think you'll agree.
As predicted, I havent received a response from Southeastern trains, but noticed the train was'nt on the board on the platform last night, and today I have checked both websites and the 17:21 to Ashford has now disappeared. I knew it was an input error by someone. Damn humans.
Alls well that ends well.
For a couple of days now, I have noticed that a "NEW" train has suddenly appeared when doing a journey plan through the Southeasternrailways website. It also appears when doing the same search through the National Rail Enquiries website. The new train is 17:21 from Stratford International and stops at Ebbsfleet & Ashford only. A bit strange as the previous train to Ashford is 17:17. Unfortunately there is already a timetabled 17:21 train which goes from Stratford to Rochester. I was also told this morining that this new train appeared on the platform information board last night, at the same time as the Rochester train.........which one came in I don't know, but I am willing to bet it was the timetabled one (Rochester). I sent this info to Southeatern this moring and now await there response.
We shall see. Watch this space, but dont hold your breath.
Well, it's the 1st of April and I had to scrape thick ice off the car this morning, is this an April fool......no, it’s the British summertime doing its usual thing. Just lucky we don’t live in Ireland or Scotland as they’ve had over a foot of snow.
ROLL ON WINTER..............NOT!
