Currently the cats are operating as usual, fighting between themselves and running away from any other cats. I am being woken intermittently by Jerry who jumps on the bed at about 4am and pads about, occasionally getting off the bed and pouncing under the covers at my legs and feet. Tom doesn’t seem to be getting on the bed in the mornings any more, but I do hear them running about chasing each other in the early hours.

Tilly (next doors youngest cat) is the bain of their lives. Spatzy (the other of next doors cats) is tolerated and they will sit in the garden relatively close without any real fuss. As soon as Tilly is anywhere around they run for the door. She is little but fearless and will beat them both up at the same time given the chance.

A little mention here about George, my sister’s cat. He is doing a bit of pining for her ex partner and as a result, seems to want to take it out on the house mice. Me sis heard him running about all over the house during the wee hours and when she got up and had a look round, it was a horror show. 2 mice, not just killed, but played with, tortured, ripped apart and bits thrown about the house. Blood up the walls, mirrors, doors, legs in different rooms. That cat has an evil streak.

Monday morning (10/05/2010), got woken up at 4.30 by cats on the bed and scratching at headboard. Ignored this but by 5am I was being scratched to get up. I threw off covers and swore at the little beggars, at which point Angie woke up and went downstairs to feed them. The problem seems to be that Tom doesn’t close the catflap behind him and all the other neighbourhood cats come in and eat their food. This means that by the early hours they have no food left and come up to annoy us until we get up and feed them. Also we have noticed that both Tom and Jerry have wandered round the front by the main road. I caught Jerry out there the other evening and Tom was out there last night. Worrying but nothing much we can do about it.

I have a nasty couple of cat claw cuts on my right thigh due to Tom falling off my lap and digging in his claws to stop himself falling onto the floor....OUCH!

Tom and Jerry seem to be fighting between theselves a lot more at the moment, which I think is due to the amount of other cats causing them to stay in more. Fur flies everywhere, as does anything on the table at the time. Also yesterday morning, I noticed a very large male fox at the bottom of the garden, which would be another reason for them to stay in.
One funny thing we have both witnessed is that if either of us are down the bottom of the garden, Jerry will come running down at full speed and run straight up a small tree until he's about 10-12 feet up. He then stops, has a look round, then walks backwards back down it.

Saturday morning was woken at 6.15am by what I thought was Tom & Jerry playing rough and tumble in the bathroom. It was only when I heard some squeaking noises that I thought 'Hello, that's not just the cat's'. I got up and saw both the cat's staring at the toilet and when I got a bit closer I spotted what was either a baby blackbird or a thrush (i think the former). I ushered the cats out and locked the bathroom door. I tried to grab the poor little thing (looking a bit roughed up). It hopped away. On my second try, it flew up into the corner of the room and then landed with a bump. It could obvously still fly, so there was some hope. I put a towel over it and picked it up. IU called for Angie (as I was still in my night attire - nothing). She came up and took it from me and into the garden. When she opened the towel it flew off into the trees. A job well done.

Got a nice scratch across my left hand as Tom was jumping off the table. Both cats are now going out a bit more, when we are there. Also tried saving a baby crow from the cats. The parents were going bonkers, so I jumped into next doors garden and managed to pop a towell over it's head and get it in a crate. Got all the cats indoors then took it to the bottom of the garden and put it as high up a tree as I could. Dont know if it made it through the night, but we live in hope.

When i arrived home from work at 6.10pm, I was greeted by Angie with a mouse in a box, as caught by her on the stairs after trying to get it from the bathroom and Tom getting hold of it a flinging it down the stairs. After about 1/2 an hour it seemd lively enough to let go, so put in down the bottom of the garden, where it scurried off. Lets hope it's another worth while wildlife save.

Found some innards on the carpet this morning. Not sure where the body of whatever it was might be, I'm sure Angie will find it when she tidies up. Cats are spending more and more time outside, except when Tilly is about. They seem to put up with Spatzy, but as soon as Tilly shows up their in.

Richard, Alice, Archie and ED came back from Singapore for a few weeks during the school holidays. The boys stayed at our house for the weekend while Richard & Alice stayed in a local hotel. Saturday 3rd JUly played 2 1/2 hours of footie with the boys and was absolutely knackered. 2 days later my legs are still aching. Sunday morning/afternoon took a trip up to Folkestone for the local markets (bit small and not much there). On way back to car, myself and Angie passed by a Street Athletics day on the leas in folkestone and met Linford Christie. I got a photo and Angie got his autograph. The kids missed this as they were heading back to tgheir car to get back to my sisters place to watch the wimbledon mens final. We met in the evening and went to a local Nepalese restuarant (The Everest Inn). The food was fab, but I have a touch of the aztec twostep and Angie was up all night being sick. Must have been a good night.
