He is the larger of the two brothers. His fur is a lighter shade of ginger than Jerry’s and is softer. His face is rounder and when he looks up at you with full black eyes, he looks like puss-in-boots from Shrek.
He doesn’t like to be picked up, so when you try, he splay’s his legs out, like a ginger stripy octopus, so that you can’t get a proper hold. He does however, love to roll over on his back and get his tummy rubbed. You can play with him and stroke him like this for ages and he never tries to play scratch or bite.
In the mornings when I get up and go into the bathroom, he will follow me in and continually meow while sitting behind me looking at me through the mirror. Occasionally he will stretch his body up and attempt to use the back of my legs as a scratching post “OW”, but I don’t put up with that for long I can tell you. He stays with me until I’m washed and dressed then he follows me downstairs, as he knows I’m about to feed him.
When I come home from work in the evening, without fail he will come and meow at me then follow me upstairs while I get changed and do my exercises. He will stay with me until I’ve finished, then follow me downstairs where he will wait for me to sit down then “POUNCE”, he’s on my lap. Another of his strange habits is that when I get changed and take my socks off, he will, without fail, lick the top of my toes. He only does it for a couple of seconds, but it’s still weird.
He is the one who keeps jumping on the bed during the night and early morning, then pads and purrs all over you until you either get up or get cross and push him off (not that this seems to stop him, he just jumps back up and starts again).
Another of his strange way’s is that we put down a bowl of cold water twice a day, but instead of drinking any of it, he gets up on the sink and drinks any water he can find. After spotting this a few times I decided to try something. The next time I saw him jump up on the sink for a drink, I grabbed the water bowl off the floor and held it at the sink line as if it was in the washing-up bowl and hey presto, he drinks from it. As soon as you put it back down on the floor he’s not interested.
Of the two cats, he is the one who loves to chew on any laces or string that you pull for him. He will chase it, but once he catches it, he doesn’t want to let go. If you try and stroke him while it’s in his mouth he will run off with it.
